URATO DRIFT
We are going to hold a beach party to celebrate Tsudayu and his fellow in music and art.
The location of the beach, Katsura-shima is a quiet island, about 25 minutes from Shiogama by ship. About 400 people is living there. Katsura-shima is one of the Urato Islands.
Tsudayu and Sahei, the first Japanese who had traveled around the world were born in the Urato Islands. They were sailor of a cargo boat which had conveyed rice and timber from Sendai to Edo(Tokyo). About 200 years ago, their ship was caught in the storm. They had started their travel from drifting and had traveled for 13 years to complete a round-the-world trip. The story of them is very eventful because it happened during Japan's period of isolation.
The beach event is in celebration of them. We would like to celebrate them by sympathizing with them, tuning to them, synchronizing with them. Because we feel our contemporary life is also drifting like them.
The main content of this event is live performance of electronic music on cargo ship (9mx7m). Audience will be also floating on the sea to listen to the sounds. About 10 DJs/electronic sound artists, 3 acoustic instruments groups, and 3 visual artists will take part in this celebration. It's all free party! We will make documentary movie, CD and booklet as the artworks of this 24 hours beach celebration.

The Concept of Morphing Documentary Movie
By using morphing, we can show something about altruistic/unselfish behavior. I've considered why superheroes in comics such as Superman, Spider-man (U.S.), Ultra-man, and Kamen-Rider (JPN) should transform themselves to bring peace to the world.
I have read books about stone implement to study for making my works. According to the books, the hunters in the Stone Age had a faculty of transforming themselves into their game -deer, bear etc. Also in the present age, an African tribe who live on hunting can transform himself into others. These would be not so special things. I think switching one to others position is natural human ability. We call it consideration or thoughtfulness.
That's why superheroes should transform. I think transformation is a metaphor for love. The first Japanese who had traveled around the world are more or less "heroes" even if they didn't want to travel around the world. And they were also helped by many foreign people through their drifting/wandering. Compassion is the concept of morphing documentary. The beach celebration is also supported by this idea.
