展示について
プロジェクト「火山焼」は、地球上のほとんどの鉱物の源である火山という場所で、同じく鉱物である粘土から作られた塑像を焼き上げようとすることによって、時間の可塑性について考察するものでした。その後の過程で、過去の時間はあらゆる物質の記憶としてとどまり、物質とはその実体を突き詰めれば私たちが「映像」と呼ぶものに近いのではないかと気づきました。例えば子供たちに真実を伝えようとする場合、「遠くに光る星々も本当は物質でできている」という言い方よりも、「君の隣で手をつないでいるお友達も本当は映像でできている」と言ったほうが現実を正確に表しているように感じます。今回の展示では、自身の過去の私的な写真を素材にした映像を用いた立体作品を発表いたします。本展での目標は、物質＝映像という事実を示すことです。 椎名勇仁（美術家）

About the exhibition: From press release / August 1, 2006
The project “Kazan-yaki” had been a consideration to ‘plasticity of time’ by firing clay statue made of clay as mineral, at the place of active volcanoes where all minerals on the earth begin. Passing through its process, I realized that the time of past have stayed into every matter as its memory, and if investigating the actual situation, matter is equal to what we call it an image. For instance, if you try to tell the truth to children, I feel it is more correctly way to express the fact that the words “The friend hand in hand is in fact made of image.” rather than the words “Stars glittering far away are in fact made of matter.” In this exhibition, I will exhibit the three-dimensional work which combined with the video image which is motion graphics made from my own private past photographs as a material.
